Our Story
Ken and Kathy Henke opened Omni (as Omni Hair Station) in November of 1984. The building that Omni resides in has quite a story. A love story, in fact.
Ken’s father, Kenneth A. Henke, and his own father and brothers built the building in 1934. Together, the family owned and operated Henke Bros. Garage. One fine day a lovely young woman, Marjory Louise Mitchell, with a smile that always lit up the world around her brought in her father’s Ford to drop it off for repairs. It was that day that she met her future husband, Kenneth. He was instantly taken in by her smile. She took one look into his beautiful blue eyes and as they say...the rest is history! They married in 1943 and had 4 children.
Fast forward to 1984 when Ken purchased the building from his father, rented out parts of the building and created a salon for his hairdresser wife, Kathy, to manage and continue her passion for doing hair. Kathy had worked in a salon directly after beauty school and later opened up shop in her basement prior to owning Omni.
In 2004 their daughter, Krissy January, came on board as the Business Manager. After a long and fulfilling career Kathy retired and her and Ken took a great leap of faith, completely renovating the business, changing the name to Omni Salon Spa & Fitness Studio, and added nail and spa services as well as a place to workout in 2006 and then a Yoga Studio after that.
From the beginning Omni has been a family business. The building is responsible for the family even existing! The level of service that we at Omni offer feels like a hug. Our hope is that you feel that hug and tell your friends and family. Understanding that you have many options for your hair care/nail/spa needs, we want you to know that you truly matter to us. We love getting to know our clients so that we may offer them the best service possible.
